- Place labeled packet for hour on gray table with paper loose on table. Direct students to pick their paper up. You will find each hour clipped together in a gray tube next to the substitute teacher box.
- Have students complete directions at posted link as warmup. The link is a Google Slide that can be shown as a presentation. Give students until 10 minutes after the beginning of class.
- Play the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcAN4rkTmNU
- Explain to students that they will have until 10 minutes before the end of class to work on their butterflies. Remind them that they have access to markers and colors pencils. Their butterfly should be highly detailed and the page should be covered in color. If they complete their butterfly they should create a background. When that is complete, they must sit quietly and watch the documentary. If they are off task while watching the movie you can assign note taking. I have reviewed the activity with them previously and they should know what they need to do. Remind students that there are visual examples of their assignments posted on the "Directions/Groups" board.
- Open VLC Media Player. You will find it in the lower task bar. It looks like a traffic cone.
- Select Play icon in lower left of screen.
- Select Disc at top of screen that opened.
- Select Play in lower right of screen.
- On the pink sheet, note the time at which you had to stop the movie for each class.
